Advanced configuration for your chatbot's AI model, API key, and add-on features.
What Is AI Settings?
AI Settings is the technical configuration page for your chatbot. Most users won't need to change these settings, but if you want more control over how your AI works, this is where you go.
What You Can Configure
AI Mode
- Platform AI (default) - Use ReplyLa's built-in AI. Easiest option, no setup needed.
- Bring Your Own API Key (BYOK) - Use your own AI API key. You pay the AI provider directly.
AI Model
- In AI Settings, find the AI Model dropdown.
- Select a model from the list.
- Click Save.
Different models have different strengths. Faster models are cheaper but may give simpler answers. More powerful models give better quality responses but use more tokens. If unsure, stick with the default.
Your Own API Key (BYOK)
- Toggle Use Own API Key to ON.
- Paste your API key in the API Key field.
- Select the AI model you want to use.
- Click Save.
When using BYOK, token usage is tracked separately from your Platform token balance. BYOK usage is billed directly by your AI provider and does not deduct from your ReplyLa token allowance.
Advanced Settings
- Temperature - Controls how creative the AI's responses are. Lower = more predictable. Higher = more creative. 0.3-0.5 is good for business chatbots.
- Context Length - How much conversation history the AI considers.
- Privacy Mode - Extra privacy protections for message processing.
AI Add-ons
- Tone Control - Fine-tune the AI's speaking style.
- Reply Format - Control message formatting (short/medium/long, bullet points, etc.).
- Vision - Let the AI understand images sent by customers.
- Whisper - Let the AI listen to and transcribe voice messages.
Common Questions
Platform AI is simpler - you just use your ReplyLa token balance. BYOK gives you more control and may be cheaper at high volumes, but you manage your own API key and billing.
Stick with the default unless you have a specific reason to change. It's the best balance of quality and cost.
Think of it as a "creativity dial". Low = similar answers each time (good for business info). High = varied answers (good for creative writing).
Yes. More powerful models use more tokens per reply. You can see the token cost for each model when selecting it from the AI Model dropdown.
If you're using BYOK and your API key has no credits, your chatbot will stop replying until you top up credits with your AI provider.
